The “Ineffable Miami” project must be in the following format. Students should think of the project as an academic reflection travel guide. The project should be an honest assessment of the neighborhood, examining both the positive and negative. The total word count must be a minimum of 2000 words. All photos must be properly credited.
NOTE: Wealth disparity, racial and ethnic segregation, and environmental degradation are unfortunate recurring themes in Miami’s history. Student projects must address these issues. Projects should not simply be glorify an neighborhood.

Introduce yourself in a brief bio.
GEOGRAPHY
Delineate, define, and describe the neighborhood you have selected. This section must include a map and original photographs by the student of the neighborhood. The student should describe both the urban and natural landscape.
HISTORY
Provide a thorough, researched, and cited history of the neighborhood.
DEMOGRAPHICS
List population and characterisitics of residents (age, gender, income level, cultural roots). Feature a bio and portrait of one resident that the student interviewed.
LANDMARKS
List and describe the museums, monuments, and historical landmarks of the neighborhood. Select three to highlight.
GREEN
List and describe the green spaces and parks of the neighborhood. Select three to highlight.
TRANSPORTATION
Describe all modes of transportation within the neighborhood and what are the results of this.
FOOD
Where are the best and authentic places to eat. Select three to highlight.
BUSINESSES
Describe and list a selection of unique businesses in the neighborhood. Do not list chains. Select three to highlight.
SUMMARY
Assess the neighborhood. What works? What doesn’t?
CITATIONS
Similar to a research paper, all sources must be cited in MLA format for all projects. If you utilize an existing film for inspiration or incorporate clips or pictures from someone else, you must cite those. Failure to do is plagiarism.
