Professor John William Bailly is the Faculty Director for España, France, and Italia Study Abroad of the FIU Honors College. From 01 May to 05 August, Bailly leads students on academic programs throughout the three countries. Bailly contracts a former student as Chaperone/Program Assistant for the three months.
This is simultaneously the greatest job and the most difficult. The PA gets to travel to the most visited sites of all three countries, but also must be available every day for three months. It is the most beautiful but intense experience.
Preference will be towards former students that have either completed a study abroad program with Bailly and/or worked as his Teaching Assistant for an Honors class.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PROGRAM ASSISTANT FOR STUDY ABROAD
PA cannot be a current FIU student (undergraduate or graduate).
PA must have previously completed a class with Bailly.
PA must commit to all three programs.
PA will room with students.
BENEFITS FOR PROGRAM ASSISTANT FOR STUDY ABROAD
PA will receive an honorarium of $2,000.00 per program, for a total of $6,000.00
PA will have all housing paid for for the duration of all three programs.
PA will have all program-related travel paid for.
PA will have all program-related admission fees to museums and monuments paid for.
PA will earn real life teaching experience in the field.
PA will be guaranteed a personalized and substantive letter of recommendation and add a great line on their resume.
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PROGRAM ASSISTANT FOR STUDY ABROAD
PA will communicate class times, due dates, and other class-related matters with students on WhatsApp.
PA will coordinate students for class excursions to keep class on schedule.
PA will be the initial point of contact for students on class-related matters.
PA will assist Bailly on organizing receipts.
PA will assist in overseeing quizzes.
PA will assist students with WordPress.
PA will take photos of class on excursions.
