PROJECT DESCRIPTION Student-Curators groups must produce a short bio on their artist. The biography is important, as it allows students to articulate their observations and understanding. The biography will be part of the exhibition catalog, and will remain the materialized form of all the work the students put into the exhibition process. A successful biography will include: birth date, full name of artist, place of birth, place where artist works, selection of representational works that will be helpful in understanding the artist’s style and direction, artist’s direct quotes, important exhibitions, projects, organizations the artist belongs to and the artist’s gallery affiliation. The component that will distinguish a bio is the inclusion of an original quote. The Biography should be approximately 200 to 300 words.

FORMAT Students must post their bio on Blackboard. The bio must also be submitted to turnitin.com

CITATIONS Similar to a research paper, all sources must be cited for a biography. It is absolutely crucial that students, and not the artist, write the bio. It is acceptable however, to submit the bio to the artist for review. Work together. Using an artist’s existing bio is plagiarism.
